Ever heard of microneedling? Just in time for Halloween, we’re featuring one of our favorite and most transformative treatments.

Let’s start with the basics. In the simplest terms this is what happens: you have your blood drawn, and then spun to isolate the platelets from the red and white blood cells, and then the separated plasma is injected back into your skin via microneedling.

Since the platelets are high in growth factor and the microneedling stimulates the skin to regenerate, the procedure aids in cell turnover. Bonus? Since the blood is from your own body, there’s no risk of your body rejecting it, making this a totally safe procedure.

Back to the procedure. After your blood is drawn and spun in a centrifuge, the microneedling can begin.

Microneedling alone offers many benefits: it’s used to treat and improve conditions like acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, loose skin, skin texture, pore size, brown spots, stretch marks, and pigment issues. By injuring the skin and forcing regrowth, microneedling increases the production of collagen.

During the procedure, your face will be numbed to ensure maximum comfort, but expect a bit of pain during the procedure. Essentially your practitioner uses the device over your face puncturing your skin and then infusing the wounds with your platelets. The entire process takes around 20 minutes.

Immediately after the treatment, you’ll likely look red, but this is normal. It takes nearly a full week to see the completed results.
